Workin' For A Livin'
I’ve been keeping busy here all week with the stuff we are preparing for the immediate future and planning for upcoming cons. I can’t tell you how excited I am for the prospect of going to a con as an exhibitor. I have gone to many a con as the proverbial sweaty-palmed fanboy a la The Chris Farley Show, but I have never graced the other side of an exhibitor’s table. Obviously, I am over the moon to be representing the work that we do here at Odd Truth, but I can’t wait to have other people and creators walk around and schmooze with us.
I’ve shaken many hands and thrown around many stammered, puberty-ridden compliments at people like Rick Remender, Paolo Rivera, Jason Aaron, Darwyn Cooke, Kieron Gillen, the Dodsons and a plethora of other creators whose work I love to read, but I’ve never done it as an “industry insider”. I know I am fortunate to have this big opportunity to network with people in the industry and market Odd Truth and myself, but I feel I’m just going to pull a Liz Lemon and keep saying “I want to go to there.”
Hopefully, I can find a way to minimize my serious affliction of fanboyness, (It’s almost as bad as lupus, or so I’ve heard.) because if I don’t I’m pretty sure Brian Michael Bendis will probably put another restraining order on me for wanting to touch his head again.
Have a great holiday weekend! I’ve got a few omnibuses and a drink with a tiny umbrella waiting for me.
